Santa...one busy guy!

Every year I design a Santa Snippet...and every year it gets a little more challenging. I think..."what in the world is Santa going to do THIS year?!"

This morning I'm assembling some Santa Packs. We put these together for the needlework shops so they can easily keep all the L*K Santas in stock...and available for all of you! Each pack includes one of all the previous years Santa Snippets.

The only Santa NOT in the pack is the current year's Santa. He's busy "unwrapping the joy" in the pic below, all while enjoying a cup of hot cocoa!

So, what about next year? So far, Santa has appeared in his striped nightshirt, his long underwear and suspenders, and all sorts of variations on the traditional big red coat. He's ice skated, come down the chimney, posed with his animal friends, held a lot of Christmas trees, stars, and of course, gifts!

Christmas is coming next month...yikes...but I'm already thinking about Christmas 2013. I just finished designing and stitching a group of 12 Christmas ornaments for 2013. I can't wait to get them back from my finisher, because it's "magical". I mail them away, and they return a week later looking more beautiful than they left, and exhibiting finishing skills I could never master myself.

Meanwhile, if you have ideas for next year's Snippet Santa...leave a comment. I'll put it on Santa's list!!

  1. How about having Santa recognize the woman who helps him get it all done and do Mrs. Claus in 2013? Other ideas: Santa checking his list or reading his mail (letters to Santa.)

  2. Maybe Santa is a stitcher! He could be cross stitching something or bringing cross stitching goodies to a deserving stitcher!

  3. Oh I like the idea of Mrs. Claus. How about Santa sneaking in the front door for those houses that don't have chimneys? Or a Santa gifting the pets of the household?

  6. Along the stitching line...how about darning a stocking!!
Sitting in a chair with a red/white stocking laying across his lap? Santas stitching up some cheer!!!

  7. Maybe Santa should head for warmer climes and be in bermuda shorts with a surf board.X

  8. Santa should be getting a massage. No designer that I have ever seen has done anything to do with massage with the exception of the 7 Chakras. Us massage therapists/stitchers would love to do something that goes with our profession. And everyone knows that Santa could really use a massage after that very long night of driving and fitting in very small chimneys!!

  9. I like the Mrs. Claus idea or the one where he's reading his list.

  10. Maybe Santa could be knitting with a ball of yarn on the floor and a cute kitten reaching out for it. Lots of men knit and Santa would be a great example!

  11. How about Santa with a gingerbread, or eating the cookies left for him? I was also going to suggest a Mrs. Claus...how about her own series?

  12. I too love the idea of a tropical Santa. Also what about a musical Santa? We recently visited The Christmas Inn in TN, where a Singing Santa performs on Saturday nights playing a guitar. Loved him!

  15. I agree with Cath, dress Santa in warmer clothes. I am sure that he gets a break! A Hawaiian shirt, ukulele and playing "Mele Kalikimaka" along with Bing Crosby. Jennifer

  16. I was also going to suggest a resting beach Santa or Santa wearing a Hawaiin flowered shirt while on a surf board.

  18. Wouldn't it be great to have Santa with a snowman....since you have been doing snowmen why not combine the two. Maybe Santa with a top hat and a snow man with a Santa cap. Something like that.

As a side note, my personal favorite and the one I've stitched the most for gifts is Santa skating. How about Santa on a toboggan with reindeer or snowmen....

  19. I also like the idea of Mrs. Santa series. Also, how about Santa doing household chores! I'm sure he must help Mrs. Santa throughout the year! :)

  20. What about Santa sitting on a beach somewhere with a cocktail in hand LOL

  21. Yay for Mrs. Santa! When I was little, my parents told me that her name was Merry Christmas, so I always pictured her as a cheery and wonderful baker (and a little bit plump like her husband). I'd love to stitch designs of her and her famous Christmas cookies, cakes, pies, and other sweet holiday delights--and perhaps a few elves enjoying the feast.

  22. How about Santa helping a child in some way? Maybe building a snowman, or something. Santa is all well and good on his own, but with a cild he becomes extra special. :)

  23. How about having Santa doing something with a music theme or carol related?

  24. I have always loved the image of Santa praying before Baby Jesus. Santa always comes by our Church during Christmas Eve Mass to deliver the first gift of the night to our manger. Its a magical moment!
Or...Do you think Santa could visit and/or adopt a shelter pet? We welcomed into our family a dog and two cats from our local shelters this year and I'd love to stitch something to remember that by!
No matter what you decide, I know I'm going to love to stitch it!
Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

  25. Some great ideas so far.....I love the idea of Santa as a baker or eating gingerbread cookies. I could just see him with a chef hat and his pot holder tasting his fresh baked cookies straight from the oven. One other idea is maybe Santa dancing with his elves (I love anything to do with elves!!).

  26. Santa and the Mrs under the mistletoe or Santa reading a story to the elves.

  27. How about playing reindeer games with Rudolph? Sherry in GA
